St Edward's is committed to working in as
sustainable a manner as possible and in doing so
trying to reduce it's carbon footprint. This will
be achieved by many means - recycling and trying
to cut our reliance on vehicles being just two
methods.

Environment Policy
The following is a summary of the School Environment
policy. The document in full can found

Overall objectives:
• To minimize the school’s impact on the
environment, involving all members of the school
community in this goal, setting an example to the
wider community.
• To have an effective
environmental management structure within the school.
• To actively promote environmental awareness and
action among its pupils.
• To reduce the
energy/water usage, waste to landfill sites and CO2
emissions beyond the targets set by government.
Specific objectives/policies:
• A rolling five year program of environmental
education.
• Opportunities for pupils to become
involved in environmental action.
• An
environmental audit on all school transport and trips.
• A comprehensive recycling program.
• The
purchase of sustainable products with minimum impact on
the environment.
• Reduction of noise and
light pollution to a minimum.
• Maximisation of
energy/water efficiency of buildings.
• An
eco-friendly management of gardens and grounds.
