I am honoured to be the twelfth Warden of St Edwards.
St Edwards has a great reputation and the strong
prevailing ethos of the School comes from its sense of
purpose.
When I first visited, I was certainly struck by its ordered,
unpretentious and relaxed atmosphere, the friendliness
of the boys and girls and the commitment of the teaching
and non-teaching staff. I knew immediately that it was
the school where I wanted to live and work.
I am pleased that the School's strengths were identified
by the ISI School Inspection team (in March 2008) and
I do recommend their report to you.
St Edwards provides our pupils with the opportunities
and resources to develop as young people.
St Edwards aims to inspire its pupils
- to discover and realise their full academic, sporting,
artistic and personal potential
- to aim for and to reach, on leaving, places in
higher education or employment which will stretch
and fulfil them to the utmost
- to become well-rounded young men and women who
enjoy life and contribute to the lives of others
- to become leaders, learning how to think for themselves,
cooperate, solve problems, make decisions and communicate
effectively}
- to reflect and act on the spiritual and moral dimensions
of life in making a contribution to the world
- to respect others, to be open-minded, tolerant,
principled and honest
While we are an Anglican foundation, we naturally welcome
children of other faiths to weekday and Sunday Chapel
services.
I would like to invite you to come and see the School
for yourselves, if you can. You will have a tour of the
School, guided by one of our pupils, a chance to meet
a Housemistress or Housemaster, and a meeting with me.
I look forward to welcoming you to St Edwards.
